Access

There is no public transportation leading to La Bastide.

 

Unless you're hiking, it is best to bring your car or a rental car in order to visit the area.

You can rent a car near the train stations of Carcassonne or Perpignan, at the airports of Toulouse, Montpellier or Perpignan, and also in Limoux and Quillan.

 

 

Arrival by Foot or with a Mountainbike, Horse or Donkey

The hiking paths we are on are the Sentier Cathare and the GR36.

 

Arrival by Train

The closest station is either Perpignan or Carcassonne.

You can rent a car there. Then follow the instructions below to reach La Bastide.

 

Arrival by Plane

The closest airports are Perpignan, Montpellier or Toulouse on the French side as well as Barcelona and Gerona on the Spanish side.

Arrival by Car

- From Montpellier: Drive to Perpignan (highway A9 Montpellier-Perpignan). Exit the highway in Perpignan-Nord / Rivesaltes. Then follow the instructions below.

- From Perpignan: Follow direction Foix until St Paul de Fenouillet, enter the city and follow "Gorges de Galamus", cross Gorges de Galamus, then at Cubières sur Cinoble turn to the left at the intersection. You will be on the secondary road D14. After 5 minutes you see on the left a side road left indicating the village Camps sur l' Agly. Don't go there! Continue straight on, and then 2 km further you will see another side road at your left leading to the hamlet La Bastide. After 1.5 km you arrive!

From Perpignan it is about a one hour drive, maybe a bit more if you are not used to driving on small mountain roads.

- From Toulouse: Drive to Castelnaudary (highway A61 Toulouse-Narbonne). Exit the highway in Castelnaudary, then follow the instructions below.

- From Carcassonne: Follow Limoux, at Limoux take the direction of Quillan until Couiza where you turn left at the only red light, direction Rennes les Bains. After 5 minutes you see a crossing where you turn right, direction Rennes les Bains. You will then be on the secondary road D14. Continue straight on D14, via Rennes les Bains, then Bugarach. After Bugarach the road rises to the pass Col du Linas, then straight descends through a forest. In this descent the first side road on the right is the junction that leads to the hamlet of La Bastide. After 1 .5 km you arrive!

From Carcassonne it takes about one hour and fifteen minutes, maybe a bit more if you are not used to driving on small mountain roads.
